Selamat Meskeremites, Mr. Tedla Bayru:

1. What is your position on the Final & Binding EEBC Verdict and Ethiopia's refusal of allowing the demarcation process to continue?

2. When is the right time to exit the political arena as an individual?

3. Do you believe that your political philosophy can be carried by a new-blood (younger person) as effectively as you would address it? If so who is your protégé (legatee) that can successfully carry your political convictions?

I consider the three questions to be the most pressing questions that need to be addressed to be even considered as a serious contender in the Eritrean polical arena. As we all know that Eritrean political landscape is unhealthy one, it is tarnished by personal vendetta and long held grudges. Thank You in advance, Mr. Tedla Bayru for answering my questions.

1. The position of the Eritrean Congress Party is as follows: a) that the Eritrean/Ethiopian border needs to be demarcated as a first step towards peace between the two neighbors; b) that a democratically elected government is the best partner for a lasting peace; c) if, however, the conflicting parties decide to resolve the border issue prior to the establishment of a democratically elected government, c) it means that remaining adjustments have to wait until the establishment of a democratic Eritrea.

2. The right time to exit from politics is when the individual has exhausted his/her ability to contribute ideas to the over-all development of his country. An individual who is incapacitated by old age and bad health is also advised to make it easy on himself and the body politic.

3. The matter of training the youth to take over the leadership is central. Let us discuss some of the significant components of the relationship of age and politics in Eritrea. The question of age and new blood was brought up by Mr. Issaias early after independence as a measure of replacing the veterans of the armed struggle. The seasoned fighters of independence resisted; in the end the power struggle that was justified in terms of age, lead, in combination with other issues, to the reformist movement. In the opposition movement the age/politics relationship is used to deactivate stalwarts of the democratic movement from the struggle against the dictator.

Yes I believe that younger persons are capable of carrying the torch of political philosophy, as they are able to govern their country. The best training ground for training a younger generation is via the political party; it is the parliamentary movement at the level of the Adi and the Awraja, and, ultimately, the national parliament, that moulds the younger generation for national responsibilities. Non-party organizations, lead in the end, to the one party state, where aging leaders cling to power by dictatorial methods. Our party intends to strengthen itself by the infusion of youth; we have a team that is capable that can lead the party and the nation at the appropriate time.

Mr. H. Tedla Bayru,

Once again, Thank you for answering my question. I hope you've got the gist of my questions. If you haven't, then I suppose you are not a sharp thinker, therefore I recommend for you to start looking for the best person who can represent the ideas you would like to see translated in the future Eritra. I don't want to be blunt, but the stakes are high and the casue demands it. The wisdem of politics is knowing when to get out. IMO, its time to say may the Gods of politics give you the serenity you may require in this life.

Take care,

Ertrawy
